When your livelihood depends on growing a variety of crops, each with its own unique nutritional needs. That’s exactly what our client, a Western Australian vegetable grower, required. With a diverse range of vegetables demanding different fertiliser blends—some focused on plant nutrition, others rich in trace elements to balance and condition the soil—this client needed mixing tanks that could adapt to multiple fertiliser recipes.
West Coast Poly stepped in with a tailored solution: two 2,500L mixing tanks designed for maximum flexibility and performance.
Residual fertiliser build-up between batches was a concern for the client, as cross-contamination could compromise the efficacy of their mixes. To tackle this, we customised the tanks with fully draining capabilities.
Using a precision 3D laser-cut H-grade polystyrene, we crafted sloping floors for each tank. These were covered with HDPE sheeting and poly welded into place by our poly fabrication team. This design ensures complete draining, leaving no room for leftover chemicals.
To further enhance efficiency, we equipped the tanks with high-powered 415V mechanical mixers featuring stainless steel shafts and low-level impellers. The placement of the impellers allows for continuous mixing even as the tank is being emptied, keeping the fertiliser in solid suspension for application.
