Process Water Tank For Gold Mining…
Secure storage with easy accessibility…
These are the elements that were essential for our client in the design of this tank. They are essential because this tank is required to store processed water for a gold mine located in the state’s mid west.
Water plays an important role in the mining and production of gold, at different stages it helps separate the valuable minerals containing the gold from their host rock. For example, during the grinding stage, water can be added to the ore, turning into a slurry like consistency, so it is then able to move to the next stage of processing with ease. Water can also be used in mixing chemical reagents such as cyanide, which dissolves the gold separating it from all other materials.
For the storage of this vital ingredient, our client needed a secure storage solution that they could access and maintain easily.
During the design stage, we had to come up with an effective way for our client to be able to access the tank and monitor the levels easily. Our solution was to install a level sensor, that will monitor the liquid level and shut off the inlet when it reaches maximum capacity. While a steel platform allows water to be collected for samples via the inspection hatch.
So the tank can be cleaned easily, we installed a large side wall manway so it can be entered safely, without the need of climbing down a ladder through the inspection hatch.
To give the tank added security, it will be fitted with a Restraint ring certified to Region D, CAT 2 wind loading when we deliver it to site.
This means that for our client, this tank will be able to store a vital element of their production, securely and accessibly.
