Portability is essential on dynamic mine sites…
Where flexibility and efficiency are key. We recently delivered a seamless portable water solution to an iron ore mine north of Tom Price in the Pilbara. This system combines a 10,000L portable water tank and a 2,000L cartage tank, working in tandem to ensure a reliable and efficient water supply to a crib room. Portable systems like these are invaluable on mine sites, allowing for quick relocation and setup as operations shift, ensuring that a potable water supply is always within reach.
The portable water tank system was designed to supply water to six toilets and eight taps, including two taps in the crib room. To ensure the water needs were met consistently, the system was equipped with a Davey HP45-05T pressure pump capable of delivering up to 70 liters per minute. This was paired with a KUV57 Steriflo UV treatment system to eliminate harmful bacteria, ensuring the water remained safe and clean. The UV treatment process is a non-chemical, non-heat application that effectively kills bacteria, viruses, moulds, and other microorganisms, making it ideal for potable water supplies on remote sites.
To withstand the challenges of a demanding mining environment, the 10,000L tank was mounted on a heavy-duty DuraGalv steel platform. This robust platform features fork pockets, lifting points, an external protection frame, and brackets to securely position the tank. With these features, the tank can be easily transported and relocated as needed, ensuring it remains a versatile and dependable solution for on-site water storage.
For this tank we also included a second connection point near the top, to allow for easy filling via a 20mm blue line pipe connected to the cartage tank. This simple yet effective design enables efficient water transfer between the tanks.
Supporting the portable water tank is a 2,000L cartage tank, designed for quick and easy water transport. Mounted on a galvanized skid frame, the cartage tank includes side fork pockets and lifting points, allowing it to be mounted and dismounted from an existing truck.
The plug-and-play design means these units are ready for immediate use upon arrival, minimising downtime and letting mine operators focus on their core activities. With durable construction and thoughtful features, our tanks provide a “set it and forget it” solution that gives clients confidence in their water supply.
For mining and industrial clients seeking portable water systems that combine reliability, durability, and ease of use, West Coast Poly delivers solutions designed to work as hard as you do.
