As Gary (a vital member of our steel fabrication team) can be seen starting on his next project in the background, his work on this recently completed cartage tank is as sight to behold. Recently, we were tasked with designing and manufacturing a custom water cartage tank for a mining operation that required a reliable and efficient way to transport potable water to their lithium mine up north.
Our client needed a skid-mounted water tank that could be easily mounted and dismounted from an existing truck. To fulfill this requirement, our steel fabrication team (the one Gary is a vital member of) crafted a heavy-duty galvanized skid frame with side fork pockets and lifting points. The cartage tank is easily secured easily to the skid frame with mounting pins.
A checker plate platform was incorporated into the skid frame to provide a secure base for mounting the diesel pump and cast aluminum hose reel. Securing points are included to bolt these components in place.
The Yanmar L70N Diesel Transfer Pump was chosen for its reliability and compliance with mine site regulations prohibiting petrol engines. The added convenience of an electric start simplifies operation, requiring only the turn of a key.
The cast aluminum hose reel features easy guide rails and a manual lock, allowing for easy extension, retraction, and control of the hose. Coupled with a variable flow nozzle, it provides flexibility and ease of water dispensing.
Baffle balls were installed in the tank to prevent liquid surge, ensuring safer driving conditions.
