Like Icing On A Giant Cake…
Only built for the desert — our team is captured here mid-process, spray-coating two 50,000L water tanks with polyurethane foam insulation at our Canning Vale facility. However, this insulating layer is more than just a finishing touch — it’s a critical part of preparing these tanks for life at a gold mine in Meekatharra, where scorching temperatures demand more than standard spec.
Each tank is being coated with a 50mm layer of polyurethane spray foam insulation, sealed with a tough elastomer protective hard coat. This system offers exceptional thermal performance — helping maintain cooler water temperatures and protecting personnel from surface heat in extreme environments. Not only does it enhance operational efficiency, but it also reduces the risk of condensation-related hazards.
The tanks are also fitted with two 150mm outlets, allowing the tanks to be connected. This means the tanks will equalise together, making filling and emptying as efficient as possible.
To maintain quality from start to finish, our QA team conducted load-certified lifting point tests and a hydrostatic pressure test with an 8-hour hold, ensuring every tank left the factory ready for remote site installation.
Due to their insulation, the tanks were transported on their bases via oversize escorted vehicles, managed entirely by our logistics team. Another example of how our team manages the details from start to finish.
The end result? Two insulated 50,000L tanks, fully equipped and site-ready, working in tandem as an efficient potable water storage system for a major WA gold mine.
At West Coast Poly, it’s not just about tanks — it’s about complete, engineered storage solutions tailored to your site.
