Identical Looking Chemical Tanks, That Differ On The Inside…
One of our clients in the mining industry required four chemical storage tanks for their site. Each tank to be 2,500l in size, coloured black, have the same flanged fittings with galvanised backing rings & a goose neck atmospheric vent.
However each tank will be holding a different chemical substance (one for Hydrochloric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Aluminium Chloralhydrate & Flocculant Solution) which means each tank has to constructed differently to best suit the chemicals ideal storage requirements.
To make sure each vessel was suitable our team consider what the concentrate levels were for each chemical and how that would affect required SG and chemical compatibility. The Hydrochloric Acid tank, is made using a special HDPE formula to hold a maximum Specific Gravity 1.9, while the other three tanks are made using an LMDPE material, each is slightly different to cater for the different SG. This not only makes, the vessels safer, but it also reduces costs for our client.
