An insulated tank full of liquid sunshine…
MYes liquid sunshine, or if you are more familiar with its scientific name, Sodium Hypochlorite more commonly referred to as bleach. The versatile chemical that battles stains, banishes germs, and keeps your world gleaming, with its cleaning and disinfecting superpowers. But this isn’t your ordinary bottle of white king, this 12.5% concentrate is potent, and will be used to treat waste water at a mine site. And for the same reason you use rubber gloves when bleaching the kitchen, this highly reactive chemical demands secure storage.
Which is why West Coast Poly was tasked with creating a custom 4,500L tank equipped to handle the demands of storing this 12.5% Sodium Hypochlorite Solution with a focus on thermal insulation and containment security.
West Coast Poly’s 50mm of polyurethane foam technology was sprayed onto the tank to create an impermeable barrier, effectively insulating the tank from external temperature extremes. This innovation forms an airtight seal, which minimizes thermal bridging. This means consistent internal temperatures, safeguarding the integrity of the liquids.
To enhance the safety and containment of the solution, a HDPE open bund was fitted to the tank, this not only provides a multi-layered defence against leaks and a containment for spills but also allow for visual inspection and easy maintenance. The UPVC ball valve was plumbed through a containment bund attaching to the non-return infill line.
With this tank our client can now store and handle this chemical with confidence, ensuring the safety of their employees and the integrity of their operations.
